These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of therapyforyou.io and to the website features and services made available through it, including contact forms and free consultation scheduling, as well as therapy services arranged separately.
They should be read together with the Privacy Policy and, where you become a therapy client, any Therapy Agreement provided to you.
About therapyforyou
therapyforyou is operated by Lisa Marini, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, an independent practitioner providing private Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) exclusively online.
Lisa Marini is accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and practises in accordance with applicable BABCP professional standards.
The content on this website is intended for general information only and should not be treated as personalised clinical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Urgent help
therapyforyou, its website, contact forms and email inboxes are not an emergency or crisis service and are not continuously monitored.
If you are at immediate risk, in danger or require urgent mental health support, you should contact the appropriate emergency or urgent healthcare service.
If you are in the UK, this may include calling 999 in an emergency, contacting NHS 111, your GP or your local mental health crisis service, depending on the circumstances.
Consultations and therapy agreements
Submitting a contact form, booking a consultation or selecting an appointment time does not by itself establish an ongoing therapeutic relationship.
Any consultation, assessment or ongoing therapy is subject to availability, confirmation, professional judgement and clinical suitability.
An introductory consultation is intended to provide an opportunity to discuss your needs and whether therapy may be appropriate. It is not a full clinical assessment and does not provide emergency or crisis support.
Where ongoing therapy is agreed, the therapeutic relationship will also be governed by the relevant Therapy Agreement, including provisions relating to confidentiality, appointments, communication, cancellations and other aspects of therapy.
Online therapy sessions
All therapy provided through therapyforyou is delivered remotely.
You are responsible for having a suitable internet connection, device and private environment from which to attend your session.
You should not participate in a therapy session while driving or in any other situation where doing so would be unsafe.
Technical difficulties may occasionally affect online sessions. Where a significant technical problem prevents a session from being provided as agreed, reasonable arrangements will be made depending on the circumstances.
If you intend to attend a session while located outside your usual country of residence, you should let me know in advance. Therapy may not be available from every jurisdiction because of legal, professional or insurance requirements.
Clinical suitability and outcomes
CBT is a collaborative psychological therapy. Individual outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
The nature and goals of therapy will be discussed with you and reviewed as appropriate.
I reserve the right not to offer or continue therapy where, in my professional judgement, the service is not clinically appropriate, falls outside my professional competence or another form of support would be more appropriate.
Where appropriate, alternative or additional support may be discussed with you.
Fees, payments and appointments
The applicable fee will be made clear to you before you enter into an agreement to purchase a paid service.
Payments may be processed securely through Stripe.
Free consultations may be scheduled using Calendly. Therapy appointments are arranged separately.
Any applicable cancellation, rescheduling or non-attendance arrangements will be communicated to you before therapy begins and/or set out in your Therapy Agreement.
When you confirm a paid therapy appointment, you agree to the applicable booking and cancellation arrangements that have been provided to you.
Consumer cancellation rights
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
Where the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply, you will normally have the right to cancel a distance service contract within 14 days without giving a reason.
If you ask for a consultation or therapy service to begin during that 14-day cancellation period, you are asking for the service to start before the cancellation period has expired.
Where services have been provided during the cancellation period following such a request and you subsequently exercise a statutory right to cancel, you may be required to pay for the services already supplied in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request to begin the service and your acknowledgement that the right to cancel will be lost once the service has been fully performed, the statutory cancellation right may end once that service has been completed.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, you can contact:
Nothing in this section affects any other consumer rights you may have.
Therapy services will be provided with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under consumer protection law.

Clinical confidentiality and its limits are explained separately as part of the therapy process and Therapy Agreement.

Complaints relating specifically to the processing of personal information are dealt with as described in the Privacy Policy, including your right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office where applicable.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to therapyforyou, the website, services provided or applicable legal, regulatory or professional requirements.
The latest version will be published on this page together with the date of the most recent update.
A change to these website Terms will not retrospectively remove or reduce statutory rights or alter an existing therapy agreement where doing so would require your agreement.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in another jurisdiction, you will continue to benefit from any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you and that cannot lawfully be excluded by these Terms.
Nothing in this section is intended to restrict any right you may have under applicable law to bring proceedings in a court with jurisdiction over the matter.
